Coffee Questions: Is coffee good for plants?

Used coffee grounds (filter too!) are great for composting. So don’t throw away yesterday’s filter and grounds. Many gardeners love to sprinkle, some of those used coffee grounds on their outdoor plants (attracts those good worms too) right before the water. Other gardeners say that the coffee grounds are just too acidic and can cause some problems with certain plants. Join a forum, like Garden Web, to start the discussion with other plant lovers. Coffee Questions: Can vinegar get coffee stains out?

Yes. Use white distilled vinegar to clean both your coffee maker and any spilled coffee. Stock up on the vinegar, it is simply a fabulous all-around-the-house cleaner.
For your coffee maker: Pour roughly one cup of vinegar in the reservoir. Run the vinegar through one brew cycle. Be sure to run two cycles of just good old plain water after the vinegar cycle. We love our vinegar, but we don’t want vinegar coffee. Now your coffee maker is free of grime and mineral deposits.
Coffee spills: Blot out the spill using a cloth and vinegar. You can also shake baking soda on the spill, then pour a bit of vinegar on top of the baking soda. It will bubble up, but watch it work magic. Remember to blot, blot, blot!
